Swampy's Guide to Good Lovemaking Albums Pt.1

Swampy's Guide to Good Lovemaking Albums Pt.1

Lovemaking albums are such a rare breed. I've spent decades hunting for them and compiling them into lists, now I find myself in the unique position to share some of my favorites with you. Here they are, in no particular order. Please leave a comment at the bottom if you have any albums you think should make part 2.

Chopin - Nocturnes

Among the first lovemaking albums, back when they were called concerts and you weren’t allowed to make love at them. The nocturnes flutter about like a moth in the dark. The melodies reach and explore patiently, softly building and falling, all with incredible emotional overtones of comfort and triumph and rest. The Nocturnes have so much space they tickle the senses.

Chet Baker - Chet for Lovers

Chet baker’s voice is like velvet, and his trumpet playing is so delicate. The band is amazing and as a bonus, the lyrics are almost all beautiful classic love songs.

John Coltrane - Coltrane for Lovers

A collection of sensual and cozy jazz tracks from John Coltrane, perhaps the greatest Saxophone player of all time. II cannot Recommend this one enough for a classy vibe.

Glass Animals - Zaba

This album is sonic sex. It's so dark and so gooey. It’ll make you feel like you are making love in the jungle. The sound tickles the senses in a very exciting way. This album is a masterpiece.

Arctic Monkeys - AM

This one has some good variety and a nice story arc. Some delicate parts

and exciting fast parts, driven by electric guitar and bass, as well as Alex Turner’s seducing voice. It never fails to sound dark and oh so sexy.

Joji - BALLADS 1

This album is smooth as butter. It made it on this for the sound alone, if you listen to the lyrics, it is not a good love making album. But if you are listening to the lyrics while lovemaking you’re doing it wrong in the first place.

Bonobo - Black Sands

This one is a little more electronic leaning, bass and strings heavy, but with a vast range of instrumentation. It grooves constantly but rarely demands for attention. Outstandingly vibey option.

Andrew Bird - Echolocations, Canyon.

This is slower, softer, more delicate, this is massage lovemaking. Violin recorded in the slot canyons of antelope valley makee for giant cozy reverb with tons of space, perfect for relaxing slow sessions

Music For Silence - Nick Murphey

Like the andrew bird album, this one is insanely snuggly and slow, with huge keys that swirl around the room.

Al Green - Let’s stay together

This is such a classic lovemaking album it couldn’t not make the list. From the keys to the vocals every track is sexy.

Marvin Gaye - Let’s get it on.

If the title didn’t convince you already, this is one of the most iconic love making albums of all time. I am absolutely overwhelmed to think about the number of people currently living that were conceived to Marvin Gaye.

Sigur Ros - Takk

This album is like a psychedelic trip. It feels like making love in a field on a hillside overlooking the Swiss alps. The vocals are magnificent, the sound is big and grand and is sure to make for some very energetic and passionate listening.

Arctic monkeys - the car.

This most recent album from the arctic monkeys feels like a great love making album from the 80s, piano driven, big string sections, tons of space, good grooves to help you keep your tempo up.

BANDS WHOSE ALBUMS WILL NEVER STEER YOU WRONG

Cigarettes after sex

These guys made their entire careers on PERFECT love making albums. They absolutely live up to the name, with vocals like the breeze, big deep guitars, and a steady driving rhythm section, these guys never miss.

Homeshake

Homeshake is also a master of the lovemaking album, but leans quite a bit more RnB. Plenty of space between grooving bass and drums and floaty guitars.

Beach House

Beach house’s sound is like a tsunami. It's a wall of Lush Synthesizers and intimate vocals, all wrapped up in a beautifully produced package that feels like a blanket around you.

Puma Blue

Perhaps the most sexy guitar playing i’ve ever heard, paired with puma blue’s film noir vocal style, makes every track i’ve ever heard from them (HIM?) absolutely dripping in seduction.
